Jasper County Economic Development Organization

Location: Indiana

Grant Amount: $60,000

The Jasper County Economic Development Organization (JCEDO) is engaging with the rapidly expanding field of agrivoltaics, which combines solar farm development with agricultural activities, through its Monetizing Sustainability-Related Business and Community Benefits of Agrivoltaics study. This initiative seeks to quantify the economic, workforce, and agricultural benefits of integrating agrivoltaics into utility-scale solar developments, focusing on creating additional income for farmers and landowners and aiding solar developers with project management insights. By addressing the challenges of siting and permitting solar installations in the Midwest, the study aims to foster faster permitting processes and increased investment. In partnership with RCP, this work intends to provide a comprehensive understanding of the agrivoltaics’ business case, promoting sustainable and economically beneficial practices for rural, agriculture-based communities.
