Food System 6

Food System 6

Location: National

Grant Amount: $100,000

Food System 6 is a nonprofit that is on a mission to accelerate innovations that transition us to a just and regenerative food system. They envision a 6th food system that scales sustainable solutions, enhances connectivity, and nurtures biodiversity, health, and well-being. To support this vision, Food System 6 is developing innovative financial tools aimed at ensuring equitable access to federal agricultural funding, especially for climate-smart, regenerative agricultural practices. Conventional banks rarely understand agriculture, and most investors and lenders are focused solely on capturing financial returns regardless of the external cost. Their initiative will pilot three new financial products: an EQIP Bridge Loan, Wisconsin Property Assessed Clean Energy Agroforestry Financing, and a Private Loan Guarantee. These mechanisms, shaped by community feedback, aim to wholly support the regenerative agriculture community, offering solutions where conventional funding falls short.
